I finally found time to get over and visit my friend Joe in Alto. He had a Monday off and went riding.

Stupid Allergies!

OK... I think I am the most sensitive outdoorsy guy in the world... for as much as I love being out in nature, I am allergic to almost everything... from poison Ivy to pollen. On Thursday June 25th, while working on building some shelves for Sally's basement, I got some sawdust in my eye. We were cutting plywood and the wind blew some sawdust up in my face. I went inside to rinse my eye and assumed it would be OK. About 3 hours later, it really started hurting. I got some eye wash from Carol in the office. It still hurt. I went to sleep early that night, by 8:30. When I woke up my eye was swollen and crusty and felt like it had a splinter in the eyelid. Sam and Sally insisted that I go to the ER. I didn't want to, but they made me. When the doc saw me, he numbed my eye and put a dye in to check for scratches on the cornea. NO scratch. NO debris. NO infection. All good, but still inflamed and irritated. The diagnosis? Allergic reaction to the glue in plywood. Who knew? I got some antihistamine eye drops and some Visine-A. All better now.

this is my pathetic ER pic:

I drove down to Elkhart, IN where Sam works as an air traffic controller. We went to a great pud called the Chuddy Trout. They have an amazing sushi bar!

This is Andrew and Winston. Winston is a Weimerraner who looked almost identical to my baby Beth. I really enjoyed spending time with them at Campit!

AWWWWWW..... SWEET BABY PUPPY!!!!

This pup was up for adoption along with her brothers and sisters. She was so sweet and cuddly and I wanted to take her home, but alas, I only have my camper for a home and I don't think it would be fair to take a puppy on the road at this time. So, I had to leave her to go to another home. Someday, I'll have another baby puppy! Until them, I'll love all the other ones I come across!

My Last Week at Campit!

My last week at Campit was CRAZY BUSY. I worked about 12 hours a day every day doing prep work for the upcoming 4th of July Holiday weekend. There was a lot to do to make sure everything was ready for check-in rush on Wednesday and Thursday. We had a new cabin that needed to be finished out and Sam helped me install a new floor in an old Airstream, among many many other chores.

Once the long weekend began, it was insane overtime. I was working from about 8 or 9 in the morning until about 3:00 AM every night... about 18 hours a day with 4 - 5 hours of sleep. In between all the work, there was time to meet a lot of nice people and have beers. It was long and hard, but loads of fun (get your mind out of the gutter) and over all it was a great 4th of July weekend at Campit!

Leaving Campit - Tuesday 7 July

My time at Campit has come to an end and I leave Michigan tomorrow! I'm so excited to be back on the road for the summer!!!!

I have to say that my time at Campit was sometimes trying - from major allergy issues, to some internal "office politics" drama, to some jealous men who weren't very nice to me after I turned them down for sex - but overall, it was a good experience and the respect I received from Sally as my employer goes far beyond any other work experience I have ever had. Sally Howard is by far the most fair, honest person I have had the opportunity to call "the boss." I can't say I would return to Michigan or Campit, but I would work for Sally again in a heart beat (somewhere with mountains, maybe... hehe). We have a rapport that is unmatched. I respect her as my superior and she gave me the freedom to effectively do my job in a manner that I saw fit.

this is my Sally:

I love you, Sally! Thanks for being good to me! XOXOXO

I'll be packing up today and heading out early Tuesday morning to head east to P-town for Bear Week, July 11 - 18. I'll stop in West Virginia on the way! Yay! Hot backwoods men! Woo hoo!
